Buffs Box, only $7
The Challenge
Drive regional buzz and in-store traffic with a limited-time “Buffs Box” deal — tapping into the explosive energy surrounding Colorado football. The goal: turn game-day hype into craveable, shareable momentum for Taco Bell.
The Insight
In Colorado, Buffs football isn’t just a sport — it’s culture. And with four standout star players leading the charge, fandom was at a fever pitch. If we could authentically connect those athletes to a custom Taco Bell offer, we wouldn’t just launch a combo meal — we’d launch a movement fans could taste.
The Big Idea
We partnered with four marquee Buffaloes players through NIL agreements, positioning the Buffs Box as the official fuel of game day. Each athlete brought their own personality to the campaign, creating a layered social rollout that felt personal, local, and electric.
In addition, Taco Bell planned to donate $1,000 for every Buffs touchdown scored to the Colorado NIL fund.
Execution
Player-Led Social Drops: Each athlete revealed the Buffs Box in short-form videos, integrating it into workouts, locker room moments, and post-practice cravings.
Game-Week Hype Content: Stadium graphics shown on the videoboards, highlighting the donation aspect of the promo.
In-Store & OOH Support: Bold Buffs-branded visuals spotlighting the players alongside the deal.
Fan Engagement: Custom T shirts, featuring one of four players, were thrown out into the crowd at Buffaloes home games
The creative leaned into Colorado pride — black and gold palettes, stadium-light energy, and confident, athlete-driven copy. It felt less like an ad and more like an extension of the team’s momentum.
The Impact
The Buffs Box generated significant regional engagement across social platforms and drove measurable lift in local store traffic during game weeks. By tapping into player star power and authentic fan passion, Taco Bell didn’t just sponsor the hype — it became part of it.
